Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All using Logon manager. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Logon Manager can permanently run out *
    * buffers and must be recycled to *
    *                      recover.                                *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    Logon Manager's buffers are lost due to a blocked Simlogon
    Queue. After an error is returned to a Simlogon request, Logon
    Manager's Simlogon Exit is entered. A VTAM API Check Macro is
    issued which in most cases will drive the Logon Manager's SYNAD
    exit. The Synad Exit will set Reg15 to an appropriate value
    which will drive the correct logic upon return to the Simlogon
    exit. There are conditions where during the execution of the
    Check macro where the Synad exit is not driven. Then upon the
    return to the Simlogon Exit the correct logic may not be
    executed. In this case the Logic to continue to execute the
    Simlogons was not entered causing the queue to be blocked.

Problem conclusion

  • Module ELMLSIMX (Simlogon exit) has been change to handle the
    case where the Synad exit is not driven.
