Error description

  • HNTE is not beeing freed
An element address is obtained for a DLUS PU which is being
activated. The PU dial processing fails. But the element address
is not released when the PU returns to Conct state. The element
address can not be used until VTAM is recycled.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Host network element address are left *
    * stranded when a DLUS PU dial fails. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Host Node Table element address are not released when
to a DLUS PU which failed in the dial process. This
could possibly lead to a depletion of element addressed
in the host. The RPR_DLS_SERVED bit for a DLUS PU
was being reset to early during the processing of a
link failure. This cause the DLUS process for releasing
network addresses to be bypassed in final PU deactivation.

Problem conclusion

  • Module ISTDECP3 has been changed to not reset the RPR_DLS_SERVED
bit in the PU. This will allow ISTDECP4 to release the network
address obtained for the DLUS PU. After the address has been
released the bit will be turned off.

NOTE. Apar OW34866 also corrects a network address problem
           for DLUS PUs.
