Error description

  • Users are unable to successfully connect to an AFTPD server
    on an MVS host. Customer successfully ran the APPFTPAJ job
    to issue the TPADD to define the AFTPD tpname to MVS/APPC.
    The AFTP client receives message:
      Problem detected by the client.
      APP0202E The APPC conversation failed.
    The MVS console shows the following information when the AFTPD
    server is initiated:

    The AFTP error log records the following error (APPFTPE):

    Additional Symptoms:
    IBMBLIAA - Using C/370
    CEEBINIT - Using LE/370

Local fix

  • Add a STEPLIB DD card in job APPFTPAJ to point to the
    C RUNTIME libraries:
    //STEPLIB  DD DSN=sedclink,DISP=SHR
    //         DD DSN=sibmlink,DISP=SHR
    This STEPLIB statement is already coded in job APPPTPAJ to
    define APINGD.
    Alternatively, you can add the C RUNTIME libraries in LINKLST.
    Note: If running LE/370, DSN=sceerun

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All APPC Application Suite AFTP users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND 806 after attempting to connect *
    * to a server within the AFTP command *
    *                      environment.                            *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The sample JCL file (APPFTPAJ) which issues the TPADD to
    APPC/MVS for the AFTP server is missing the STEPLIB statements
    which include the location of the C Runtime libraries.

Problem conclusion

  • Sample JCL file APPFTPAJ was modified to include the STEPLIB
    statements needed to specify the location of the C Runtime
    libraries.

    Sample JCL file APPZMSCJ was modified to include
    comments clarifying what needs to be changed before it is
    submitted.
