Error description

• When attempting to process an empty VSAM file, OPEN fails,
  leading to zDMF error messages GZD4238E and GZD1014E.

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Logical Copy attempts to REPRO the      *
  *                      source file to the newly allocated      *
  *                      target file, but the REPRO fails with   *
  *                      IEC161I 072-053 which indicates that    *
  *                      the source data set is empty.  This     *
  *                      will be followed by a GZD4238E Logical  *
  *                      Copy error on source data set (DSN)     *
  *                      for group (group), utility RC: 12       *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *
  ****************************************************************
  zDMF Logical Copy does not check for an empty Source data set
  before attempting to perform the REPRO to the target data set.
  

Problem conclusion

• zDMF Logical Copy will determine if the Source data set is empty
  by checking the High-Used RBA for VSAM data sets and the number
  of used tracks for non-VSAM data sets and will bypass the REPRO
  if either are zero.  This allows the migration to continue to
  the rename process and completion.
