OA68438: ABEND S0C1 IN GZDACT3 DURING ROTATE OF VSAM CLUSTER WITH AIX ZDMF/K

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When a VSAM cluster with one or more associated AIX is
  processed using the ROTATE function, an abend S0C1 may occur.
  This has only been seen when Logical Copy is NOT in use.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

  * USERS AFFECTED: Users performing a keylabel rotation on a    *
  *                 VSAM sphere that has an Alternate Index.     *
  ****************************************************************
  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: S0C1 in GZDACT3 at +5FF2.  This occurs  *
  *                      during a keylabel rotation that         *
  *                      includes an AIX.                        *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF.                      *
  ****************************************************************
  During keylabel rotation, the keylabel for the Alternate Index
  (AIX) is not located, causing zDMF to attempt to perform a
  Decrypt.  This causes the S0C1 when no encryption information
  is found for the AIX.
  

Problem conclusion

• The keylabel for the Alternate Index (AIX) will be obtained
  from the base cluster control block area.
