Error description

  • Predictive Failure Analysis exception processing creates a
diagnostic file in the pfa zfs
      ie:
    /var/pfa/PFA_COMMON_STORAGE_USAGE/EXC_20250206091956/systemName.

This file contains the getmain information for the address
spaces whose usage increased the most at the last model that
were identified in the exception report. Each record contains
an entry describing a Jobname, Return Address, and how much
storage is in use by that return address. When PFA attempts to
convert the return address to a module name and offset it
incorrectly evaluates the start address of where the module
found at the psw return address is loaded. This results in the
systemName.allData.mapmvs to either not map the PSW and leave it
as the original value or replacing the correct return address
with the wrong module name+offset to identify what getmained the
storage in the trend under the identified job.

    The /var/pfa/PFA_COMMON_STORAGE_USAGE/data/systenNameMAPREQF.OUT
which is used by the above exception processing is not copied
to the /var/PFA/EXC_xxxxxxxxxxxx directory when the other
exception data is copied in there. Leaving this file in the
/data/ path allows it to be overwritten at a future exception.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Changes to the MAPREQF.OUT format were *
    * not reflected in the module that reads *
    * the contend of the file leading to *
    * the improper parsing of the start *

Problem conclusion

  • The proper offsets were set for the start and end addresses in
the module that reads the MAPREQ.OUT file.
