OA67233: I/O ERRORS WITH ENCRYPT OF MULTI-VOLUME NON-VSAM DATA SETS ZDMF/K

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When a non-VSAM extended-format version 1 data set is encrypted
  using zDMF regular (non-logical copy) processing, the resulting
  data set may have I/O errors on second and subsequent volumes.
  Encryption requires extended format version 2.

  Extended format datasets have an MMSX appended to each block of
  the dataset.  The MMSX contains a field that contains the
  relative block number, and this is calculated differently in V2
  than in V1.  Encryption requires V2, so the encryption logic
  must convert V1 to V2 during its processing.  This wasn't being
  done correctly.
  

Problem conclusion

• The encryption processing has been changed to correctly update
  the MMSX RCIN field.
