Error description

  • When attempting to use HCD option 2.11 then 5,6,or 7 where

      5. Activate hardware changes only to SACF (a)

      6. View current active configuration . . (c)

      7. Download active configuration . . . . .(d)

    Fails with:

MSGCBDG690I was received with the following text:
Request (HWST) to remote support element IBM390PS.MISTI
    failed, error info = 4 1 0 0 24 0.

    .
The time out occurs for any HWACT_TIMEOUT setting.
    .
The problem is that the MVS image is NOT REGISTERED to receive
event 12 notifications which is necessary for these 3 options.
In this case the customer was using an exit supplied by Phoenix
    Software - EJESCAS
The way this software was "registering as an event listener"
prevented z/OS of setting a bit in the HW masks that reflected
z/OS was not "allowed" to recieve event notifications for event
    code 12.
    .
    Verification Steps:

    1) Take a console dump.
    2) Issue VERBX IEFENFVX
        From this display scroll to:
