Error description

  • When datasets with an unexpired expiration date are processed by
zDMF, the system issues message IEC507D E, when the target
dataset is opened. This message is a WTOR that requires an
operator to decide whether to allow or deny the open. This can
cause the copy to fail, or at least causes unnecessary delay.

Workaround is to automate the reply to IEC507D.

zDMF allocates target datasets based on copying most attributes
from the source datasets, including expiration date. When these
are opened for output, the system issues the IEC507D WTOR
because they are not expired. This leads to delays at best,
and failures if an 'M' is the response.

Problem conclusion

  • zDMF will now allocate target datasets without an expiration
date set. When divert processing renames the datasets, the
expiration date will then be copied from the source.
