APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• 1. GZDRMAN S0C3s should be error message and suspend of dataset.
  
  2. Issue error message that Logical Copy does not support
     non-SMS target datasets.
  
  3. GZDLOCO fails LDS because IDCAMS opens and closes them twice,
     and FREE=CLOSE means the allocation is lost.

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF when available.       *

  1. GZDRMAN S0C3s should be error messages and suspend of
     dataset.
  
  2. Check for a target STORCLAS when Logical Copy is requested.
     If none, issue error message that Logical Copy does not
     support non-SMS target datasets, and fail the activation.
  
  3. Logical Copy uses FREE=CLOSE on target dataset allocations.
     This fails for LDS because IDCAMS opens and closes them
     twice, and so the second open fails.
  

Problem conclusion

• 1. The allocation and deallocation of logical-copy data sets
     has been changed to allow multiple OPENs, which allows LDS
     to be processed without errors.
  2. Promote processing will now fail a group if LOGICAL-COPY is
     specified without a target STORCLAS.  Logical Copy can only
     be used to migrate to SMS-managed volumes.
  3. Abends have been replaced with new error messages; and
     possibly an SVC dump.  Data sets affected will be marked in
     error, but processing will continue.
