Error description

  • When issuing multiple LISTC LVL() OUTFILE() ALL commands in
    batch, ABEND0C4 IN IDCTP01 UJ08761 at x+20C8
    
    Note: In z/OS V2R5 DFSMS with APAR OA65387 applied and
    subsequent releases, the "LISTING FROM CATALOG -- catalog-name"
    message has been restored to each page header to the OUTFILE
    when running IDCAMS LISTCAT LVL command as it was pre-z/OS V2R5

    ANALYSIS:
    IDCAMS trys to execute a MVC to the storage where REG3 points,
    to create the SUBTITLE Line for the LISTC output.
    
    KNOWN IMPACT:
    The BATCH JOB fails with ABEND0C4-4.
    
    VERIFICATION STEPS:
    Confirm that multiple LISTCAT LVL() OUTFILE() commands were
    issued in batch, and that the enviroment has IAM software
    active. Then via IPCS, verify that REG3 points to Key0 Storage,
    and that the PSW is in Key8.
    
    PE INFORMATION:
    USERS AFFECTED:
    APAR OA63298 (UJ08880) introduced a defect causing ABEND0C4 IN
    IDCTP01 UJ08761 at x+20C8, when issuing LISTC LVL() OUTFILE()
    
    
    USER IMPACT:
    APAR OA63298 fixed the problem it reported but introduced a new
    problem.
    

Local fix

  • BYPASS/CIRCUMVENTION:
    Remove UJ08880, steplib to a version of IDCAMS without UJ08880,

    The 0C4 was caused by changes that called a needed procedure
    that got control blocks. The code is changed to add back in the
    calls to those procedures.
    

Problem conclusion

  • The problem is fixed. Apply the maintenance and rerun.
