OA65210: ABEND017 RSN20C with zIIP-based RESUME SRB

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• It has been seen with the use of zIIP processors with IBM DB2
  High Performance Unload for z/OS workload.

Local fix

• BYPASS/CIRCUMVENTION:
  The circumvention is to specify zIIP off via the parmlib
  parameter to prevent DB2 HPU from checking if a zIIP processor
  can be used.
  

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A resume macro is issued with zeros in  *
  *                      the token field and results in an       *
  *                      ABEND017.                               *

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply PTFs.                                  *
  ****************************************************************
  A timing hole exists which can allow an NSR SRB to continue
  processing and start a new I/O request before the last
  I/O SRB has completed.
  

Problem conclusion

• Logic has been corrected to always check to see if a suspend
  is needed before continuing with the control back to the
  caller.
