Then, when a second system was warm started in the MAS, it encountered a $DIS error at label $BVORPHN. The problem is a JOE placed on the FREE queue during the queue rebuild had a BERT associated with it that were not considered by the HASPJOS routine $#RBDCHK which resulted in the BERT being orhpaned. KNOWN IMPACT: JES2 may ABEND and issue message HASP483 prompting for a queue rebuild. JES2 will recover successfully after the ABEND and rebuild. VERIFICATION STEPS: 1. JES2 member warm starts and detects JES2 CKPT is damaged. 2. Job queue rebuild is performed and completes successfully (HASP440) 3. On a subsequent warm start, a $DIS error occurs at label $BVORPHN for an orphaned BERT that was associated with a JOE previously placed on the FREE queue.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of HJE77B0, HJE77C0, and * * HJE77D0. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: $DIS DISASTROUS ERROR AT LABEL * * $BVORPHN may occur on the next warm * * start after a job queue rebuild * * ($HASP440). * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** During a warm start, in checkpoint validation, a damaged Job Output Element (JOE) may be found and moved to the free queue. If the JOE has a BERT associated with it, the BERT is orphaned. On the next warm start, the orphaned BERT is detected and a $DIS DISASTROUS ERROR AT LABEL $BVORPHN ABEND is issued.
Problem conclusion
TYPE/RESTART (HOT) IPL/REQUIRED (NO) CLPA (NO) Code in module HASPJOS was modified to free any BERTs associated with a JOE before moving the JOE to the free queue. Code in module HASPIRDA was modified for a warm start to check for BERT problems after fixing any problem found in the job queue or Job Output Table (JOT).
