Error description

  • After application of OA60777, ABEND S0C1 may occur in HASCSISC.

    ANALYSIS:
HIPER APAR OA60777 added two new SRB return codes which means
that the $SBWA macro branch tables must be updated: one in
HASCHAM and the other in HASCSISC. The one in HASCSISC wasn't
updated and when the new RC is returned, a wild branch resulting
    in ABEND 0C1 occurs.

    KNOWN IMPACT:
ABEND 0C1 in JES2 common code can cause calling jobs to ABEND
unexpectedly. This will only occur in applications that do a
spool read SSI where the caller is asking for incore buffers.

    VERIFICATION STEPS:
    1. PTF for OA60777 is applied
    2. 0C1 ABEND in HASCSISC in calling program
    3. Application performed a spool read SSI where the caller is
    asking for incore buffers.

    PE INFORMATION:
    USERS AFFECTED:
All users of JES2 with OA60777 applied

    USER IMPACT:
APAR OA60777 fixed the problem it reported but introduced a new
    problem.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
Users of the SPOOL read function (SSI 71 function SSJISIOM)
that request in-storage buffers (SPIOCTYP set to HDB and
SPIOASID set) can encounter an ABEND0C1 if the PROTSRB
request fails with a return code of 52 (ABEND recovery) or
56 (job not active in address space). This is caused by a
missing update to the branch table in the SPOOL read logic
    of the HASCSISC module.

Problem conclusion

  • TYPE/RESTART (WARM) IPL/REQUIRED (YES) CLPA (YES)

CLPA is needed only if HASCxxxx modules currently reside in
the pageable link pack area (PLPA).

The HASCSISC module code that processes the return codes from
PROTSRB was updated to properly handle the new return codes
    added by OA60777.
