    * z/OS BCPii users in TSO/E REXX, ISV REXX, and SYSTEM REXX *

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * With the introduction of HWIREST, z/OS BCPii users received *
    * access to numerous additional hardware attributes. However, *
    * similar to the prior BCPIi APIs (v1), HWIREST continued to *
    * restricted the set of operations available to applications *
    * running in a TSO/E REXX or ISV REXX environment. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *

Problem conclusion

  • z/OS BCPii is delivering an enhancement to HWIREST API that
    allows applications executing from an ISV REXX or TSO/E REXX
    environment unrestricted access to all the supported REST API
    operations listed in Appendix A, Base Control Program internal
    interface (BCPii) in Hardware Management Console Web Services
    API. In addition, this enhancement adds support that allows
    calls to HWIREST API from REXX execs executed via the AXR MODIFY
    command.
