    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
If multiple transactions execute under one enclave and the
total transaction time reported on the IWM4EDEL macro is for
the sum of all the transactions, the response time data
returned by IWMRCOLL (collect workload activity data) will
show fewer completed transactions with an elongated response
    time.

The problem becomes apparent with Db2 12 for z/OS APAR PH34378
when an enclave created by Db2 to run distributed transactions
under a high performance DBAT is only deleted by Db2 after the
high performance DBAT has been used to execute up to 200
transactions. This change resulted in response time data
being reported by the IWMRCOLL (collect workload activity
data) service to now report much fewer transactions being
completed with elongated response times. WLM APAR OA61811
provides an enhancement to the IWM4EDEL (Delete an Enclave)
service used by Db2 to allow Db2 to provide the number of
transactions and the aggregated response time of the
transactions that were processed during the use of the enclave
by the Db2 high performance DBAT.

Problem conclusion

  • WLM extends its Delete an Enclave (IWM4EDEL) service for the
purpose of performance monitoring. The number of transactions
processed by the enclave and the aggregated execution time of
the transactions can be provided as optional input parameters.
This transaction data is accumulated by WLM and returned as
additional performance data by the Collect Workload Activity
    Data (IWMRCOLL) service.

WLM Enclave Delete service IWM4EDEL is extended by the
    following additional optional input parameters:

    - TRXNUM, an optional fullword input parameter which contains
the number of single transactions processed by the enclave.
When specified, the sum of transaction execution times in
EXTIMEACC and the sum of squares in EXTIMESQACC is also
required to finalize resource accounting. Default is 1.
    - EXTIMEACC, if TRXNUM is specified, a required 64-bit input
which contains the accumulated execution time (in TOD clock
format) of all transactions specified in TRXNUM.
    - EXTIMESQACC, if TRXNUM is specified, a required 64-bit input
which contains the sum of squares of the execution times
(in microseconds) of all transactions specified in TRXNUM.
This field is required to calculate a meaningful standard
      deviation by the performance monitor.

To determine whether WLM supports the new parameters for
IWM4EDEL, the SYSEVENT REQSRMST macro can be used. The
parameter list (mapping macro IRASRMST) returns a new bit
SRMSTHPT in field SRMSTFF2. If ON, the support is available.

The additional transaction data provided by the caller of
IWM4EDEL is accumulated by WLM for workload reporting purposes
and returned as additional performance data by the Collect
Workload Activity Data (IWMRCOLL) service. Macro IWMWRCAA,
which maps the information returned by IWMRCOLL, is extending
its response time data structure RCAERST accordingly.
The change level in field RCAACLVL is changed from 4 to 5.
