Problem conclusion

  • Copy of PDSE Member generations in IEBCOPY
    z/OS DFSMSdfp Utilities - SC23-6864-30
    Chapter 3.
    On Page 21 add a bullet to the tasks that IEBCOPY can perform.
      Copy the member generations of a PDSE V2 dataset to another
      (COPYGRP, COPYGROUP)
    On Page 33 remove the restriction that says :'If you use
    IEBCOPY to copy a Version 2 PDSE to another PDSE, the PDSE
    member generations are not preserved... COPY function.

    New Syntax for the COPYGRP or COPYGROUP statements:
    OUTDD=DDname
    ,INDD={DDname|((DDname,R))}  Ý,LIST={YES | NO}¨
     Ý,GENS={ALL| NONE}¨

    where
    :
    :
    GENS={ALL | NONE}
    Indicates if the member generations of a Version 2 PDSE will
    be copied or not. This keyword is valid only when copying from
    a PDSE V2 with member generations to another

    GENS=ALL
    Specifies that all members and generations to be copied from
    this input PDSE data set are to replace any identically named
    members on the output PDSE data set.

    GENS=NONE
    Specifies that we don't want to copy the member generations of
    the input PDSE data set.

    z/OS MVS System Messages, Vol 7 (IEB-IEE)
    Add New message
    IEB1181I GENS keyword requested for a PDS data set. It is
     ignored for a PDS

    Explanation: A request to copy the member generations of a PDS
     data set has been encountered. PDS does not support member
     generations.

    The severity is 0.

    System Action: GENS Keyword will be ignored and proceed to
     make the copy.

    User response: Remove GENS keyword or make sure that Input and
     Output data sets are version 2 PDSEs.
