New function to allow DFSMShsm users the capability to keep the
original migration date in the DFSMShsm MCD record of a
previously migrated and recalled SMS managed data set upon
    subsequent re-migration.

Problem conclusion

  • DFSMShsm has been enhanced to provide a new MIGRATE option
when STORAGEGROUP(SGn) is specified, namely KEEPMIGDATE. This
allows data sets that have been recalled, to use the original
migration date in the DFSMShsm MCD record upon subsequent
    re-migration.

The following documentation will be changed as follows.

    1. z/OS DFSMShsm Storage Administration
    	SC23-6871-xx

     - "Chapter 51. MIGRATE command: Requesting a space management
function", section titled "Syntax of the MIGRATE command for
SMS-managed data sets", shall have an new optional keyword
(KEEPMIGDATE) added to the train tracks with existing keyword
       STORAGEGROUP(SGn) as follows...

      \ -- , <- /
       | | | |
       -- STORAGEGROUP --( - SGn - ) ----------------------------
        \ / \ /
         ----- SG ----- ----- KEEPMIGDATE-----

     - "Chapter 51. MIGRATE command: Requesting a space management
function", section titled "Summary of parameters", shall
have a new keyword, 'KEEPMIGDATE', added to the table at
row indicated by 'STORAGEGROUP' and column 'Related
       Parameters'.

     - "Chapter 51. MIGRATE command: Requesting a space management
function", section titled "Optional parameters of the MIGRATE
command for SMS-managed data sets", shall have a new
       subsection added as follows...

KEEPMIGDATE: Specifying migration of a data set should keep
its' original migration date, if one exists.

Explanation: KEEPMIGDATE is an optional parameter that is
used only when STORAGEGROUP(SGn) has been specified. This
optional parameter is used to specify that DFSMShsm should
use the original migration date (i.e. if the data set had
been previously migrated, but since recalled), if one exists,
upon migration of the data set.

       Defaults: None.

Notes: KEEPMIGDATE only applies when STORAGEGROUP(SGn) is
specified, and as such, only applies to SMS managed
              data sets.

    2. z/OS DFSMShsm Data Areas
        GC14-7504-xx

Section: "Chapter 49. MWE-Management Work Element"
Table: "Table 124. MWE-Management Work Element"

A new bit, 'MWEF_MGSG_KEEPMGDATE', shall be added in the
MWEFLG10 flags set after the bit described by
    'MWEF_UNIXUSER'.

       135 (87) BITSTRING 1 MWEFLG10 Additional Flags

               .... ..1. MWEF_UNIXUSER Request from USS user
               .... ...1 MWEF_MGSG_KEEPMGDATE ON - KEEPMIGDATE
                                           was specified on the
                                           MIGRATE STORAGEGROUP(SGn)
                                           command
                                           OFF - KEEPMIGDATE was not
                                           specified on the MIGRATE
                                           STORAGEGROUP(SGn) command

The row currently after 'MWEF_UNIXUSER' with Description
'Not used' shall be removed entirely from the table.
