APAR status

Error description

  • CBDA383I surfaces during HCD activate for devices that were
    explicitly connected to Operating System configurations or whose
    OS definitions (in the part of the READ-ONLY specification) were
    changed before the application of a PTF for OA54706.

Local fix

  • RECOVERY ACTION:
    1) Run an OS report to find out which devices are getting the
    CBDA383I.

    1A) Start HCD with current IODF,
    1B) Go to Option 3 -> 1,
    1C) Put a slash in front of 'OS report' only, allow '1' (YES)
    for 'Limit reports', press Enter, and choose 'OS device report'.

    1D)Allow HCD to submit a batch job and then check its output (at
    the end) for presence of CBDA383I messages.

    2) Change/reconnect those devices in order to update the control
    blocks.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * The data structure in the IODF that *
    * represents a device with the READ-ONLY                       *
    * parameter contains a length that is *
    * larger than permitted by the UDT. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************

Problem conclusion

  • The maximum length allowed for the READ-ONLY parameter in HCD
    was increased to avoid CBDA383I message and also to allow
    future growth.
