OA57427: ABEND0C4 RC04 IN JES2 MODULE HASCINJR WHEN TYPRUN=COPY CODED ON JOB CARD

APAR status

Error description

• ABEND0C4-4 can occur in module HASCINJR at seq. 32140000 for
  jobs that contain TYPRUN=COPY on the JOB statement and the EXEC
  statement references a PROC that contains an instream 'DD  *' or
  'DD  DATA' statement AND an error was detected in the submitted
  JCL stream.
  
  Verification steps:
  1) JOB card specifies TYPRUN=COPY
  2) JOB card contains a JCL or syntax error
  3) The EXEC statement calls a PROC
  4) Called proc contains a 'DD *' or 'DD DATA' statement
  

Local fix

• Avoid TYPRUN=COPY or use TYPRUN=SCAN

  Errors can occur in conversion for jobs which specify
  TYPRUN=COPY, but encounter a JCL/JECL error at input
  time.  These jobs are erroneously queued to conversion
  processing in order to add the error messages to JESYSMSG.
  Errors occur because an incomplete job structure is created
  for TYPRUN=COPY jobs because they do not expect to enter
  conversion processing.
  
  In the reporting scenario, this surfaced as a ABEND0C4
  (ABENDS0C4) in HASCINJR when creating SYSIN data set that
  was specified inline in an imbedded PROC.
  

Problem conclusion

• TYPE/RESTART(WARM) IPL/REQUIRED(YES) CLPA(YES)
  
  CLPA is needed only if HASCxxxx modules currently reside in
  the pageable link pack area (PLPA).
  
  Code is updated in HASCSRIP to always queue TYPRUN=COPY jobs
  directly to output, even if error messages exist.
