OA57233: ERROR READING NEXT BCDS RECORD

Obtain the fix for this APAR.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Error reading next BCDS record because a data area size, where
  we should read the record, is  not enough to read the record
  with size of 6544.
  6544 is a maximum BCDS record size.
  Some modules in DFSMShsm call ARCZRNXT module to read  BCDS
  records with the data area size less then 6544.
  If the record has length 6544 then ARC0187I message with RC12
  is issued:
   ARC0187I I/O ERROR READING THE NEXT DFSMSHSM CONTROL
   DATA SET M RECORD,
   KEY=DFHSM.BAC.T474801.VNDROPM.TEST.A8362,
   RC=0012

  * enough to read a record with                                 *
  * the maximum BCDS record length.                              *

  * ARC0187I RC12 and/or ARC0814I  RC01.                         *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  Various DFSMShsm functions, FREEVOL, START DFSMSHSM,
  AUTOBACKUP , FIXCDS, LIST, may receive ARC0187I and/or
  ARC0814I messages if the data area size is not large enough
  to hold the maximum BCDS record length.
  

Problem conclusion

• DFSMShsm will be modified to resolve this problem.
