Error description

  • Customer is running zAPM Connect started task and activated the
    MQ susbystem monitoring to track CICS transactions that are
    flowing through it.
    CICS joblog shows the following error message:

    CSQY291E CSQWDSDM SDUMPX FAILED
    RC=00000408,MRQ2,ABN=0C4-00000004,PSW=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,ASID=yyyy

    and the dump being taken has the following title:

    MRQ1,ABN=0C4-00000004,U=        ,C=W9700.800.CMC

    -CSQMCPRH,M=CSQGFRCV,PSW=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,ASID=yyyy
    *
    *
    Additional symptoms and keywords:
    - ABEND0C4 ABENDS0C4 S0C4 S00C4 0C4
      The dump title or symptom string for the S00C4 may report
      module names of CSQMCPRH and CSQGFRCV, but the PSW is actually
      in AGMAXAPI.

    - ABEND0C1 ABENDS0C1 S0C1 S00C1 0C1
      where the PSW is in CSQMCPRH and the failing instruction is
      4400 E000, which is is an EX (execute) instruction. The
      instruction to be executed (pointed to by Register 14) lives
      in MQ's RMFT control block, but it is zeroes due to the
      problem being addressed by this APAR.

Local fix

  • Disable the MQ subsystem from monitoring by doing these steps:
    1-Edit the zAPM Command file (i.e default is AGMACMDS in
    SAGMSAM dataset
    2-Comment the line  :
    AGMQ INIT ssss
    where ssss is the failing MQ subsystem

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED: All Z APM Connect v6.1.0                     *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend 0C4 in MQ subsystem when *
    *                      AGMAPROC is started                     *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply this PTF *
    ****************************************************************
    The MQ exit code we hook uses an ALET to
    reference storage in the MQ address space.
    When CICS called this code it was using
    the MQ ALET instead of the CICS ALET

Problem conclusion

  • Correct the MQ exit code to identify the
    appropriate ALET before using.
