Error description

  • When using HCD I/O Path Report Selection HCD can and may
use zDAC, ie. Discovery to complete report information.
    .
If a User cancels the job by any means, ie. cancel TSO
user or P the REPORT job, a subsequent abend may occur,ie.
    Log shows:

    .
Subsequent Reports and/or zDAC discoveries will fail
    with abends and/or messges.
In addition a Discovery Control Unit is left "orphaned"
in HSA on the chpid that was used for discovery.
If a future dynamic IO request involves changing and/or
removing a chipd it may fail with:

This apar is created to fix the problem where a CU is q
orphaned in HSA after cancelling the REPORT job.
If the CU is already orphaned in HSA see z page for
    further instructions.

    ****************************************************************
The HCD I/O Path Report and the HCD Discovery and
Autoconfiguration processing performed by IOS may make
temporary changes to the active I/O configuration by adding
control units and devices that are used exclusively for
discovery. When one of these functions is terminated before
completion (e.g.Cancel), the discovery control unit and
devices may remain in the configuration and cause ABENDs,
subsequent report failures, or autoconfiguration failures.

In addition, if the hardware request to change the
    configuration during Discovery and Autoconfiguration
controller discovery fails, devices or control units added
temporarily for discovery purposes may remain.

Problem conclusion

  • IOS discovery processing is updated to remove any control
units or devices added for the purpose of I/O discovery when
the function is terminated before completion of the function.

IOS discovery processing is updated to remove any control units
or devices added for the purpose of I/O discovery when the
function fails while changing the hardware configuration during
    controller discovery.
