OA56623: STORAGE SHORTAGE IN THE CATALOG ADDRESS SPACE AFTER A SERIES OF ABENDS0C4

APAR status

Error description

• An abend878 occured in CAS after hundreds of abends0c4
  happened in the catalog front end processing.
  
  The storage which causes the shortage is allocated in sp230
  key0. The eyecatchers within that storage are IGGFMSX, IGGFMSA,
  IGGFMSP.
  
  The reason for the shortage is that this storage is not
  correctly cleaned up after such an abend0c4. This is usually no
  problem as abends in the front end are rare and only a small
  piece of storage is not cleaned up. In this particular case
  there were hundreds of abends0c4 which finally result into the
  shortage.

Local fix

• Restart catalog with MODIFY CATALOG,RESTART. If the restart does
  not work, force the catalog address space with
  FORCE CATALOG,ARM.
