OA56548: ICKDSF REFVTOC NOT FIXING ORPHAN DSCBS ON VTOC WHEN DSCB LOCATION IS GREATER THAN 1310 TRACKS

Obtain the fix for this APAR.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When ICKDSF REFVTOC is used to fix (remove) orphan DSCBs from
  the VTOC, if the orphan DSCB's location is greater than 1310
  tracks into the VTOC, the orphan will not be fixed.
  

Local fix

• open a PMR with DFSMS CVAF support for assistance in removing
  orphan DSCBs

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
  *  During the process of converting                            *
  *                      Indexed VTOC to Non-Indexed VTOC, if    *
  *                      an orphaned Format-3 DSCB location is   *
  *                      greater than 1310 tracks or 65535       *
  *                      DSCBs, the converting process will not  *
  *                      detect the orphaned format-3 DSCB.      *
  *                      Therefore, it will not reclaim the      *
  *                      orphan format-3 DSCB as format-0 DSCB.  *

  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  The problem has been corrected by using the full-word(4-byte)
  length variable to accommodate the architectural limit of 65535
  track VTOC to find any orphan format-3 DSCBs within that limit.
