Error description

  • CKF984I 12 Invalid KEYWORD list element type delimiter.
    This message can be seen when CKFCOLL attempts to collect
    information about attached/dedicated disks from z/VM CP, when
    z/OS is a guest of z/VM, and the volid is blank, for example:
    CKF984I 12 Invalid KEYWORD list element type delimiter "= 0000"
    at VMCPRESP line 1
    CKF987I 12 Syntax error: end of file expected instead of
    delimiter at "= 0000" on VMCPRESP line 1

Local fix

  • Do not run CKFCOLL with the OFFLINE=Y parameter, or format
    cylinder 0 of all attached/dedicated DASD devices.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: Users of zSecure Collect component *
    * exploiting the program on z/OS running as *
    *                 guest under z/VM.                            *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: zSecure Collect issues a MSGCKF984I     *
    * when running on z/OS configured as *
    *                      guest for z/VM.                         *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the PTF provided. *
    ****************************************************************
    When zSecure Collect performs processing on a z/OS system that
    is running as a guest under z/VM, it issues a MSGCKF984I which
    begins with the text "Invalid KEYWORD list element ..." followed
    by a MSGCKF987I which begins with the text "Syntax error ..."
    for un-initialized attached/dedicated dasd devices when the
    OFFLINE=Y keyword is passed as parameter.

Problem conclusion

  • zSecure Collect has been modified so that it processes
    un-initialised  attached/dedicate dasd devices correctly on z/OS
    systems running as guests under z/VM.
