OA54462: MSG$HASP292 MEMBER XX -- JES2 IS WAITING FOR RESPONSE TO *UNKNOWN* CKPTN

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Due to previous errors, JES2 is in checkpoint reconfiguration.
  During this process JES2 tries to write final data to checkpoint
  1. If this process is delayed, the $HASP292 message is issued to
  explain what I/O operation we are waiting on.
  
  In this scenario the message states "JES2 IS WAITING FOR
  RESPONSE TO *UNKNOWN* CKPT1". Instead of *UNKNOWN* the message
  should indicate which operation we are waiting for of either:
  "WRITE TO", "FORMAT OF", "EXTEND OF" or "I/O TO".
  
  ANALYSIS:
  The $HASP292 message is issued in module HASPCKPT, routine
  CKWAIT. The value within the message is based on CKWFLAG6 in
  $CKW. The bit indicating the current operation should be set
  indicating we are doing our track I/O.
  
  Near label KT10150 in routine KTRK1IO in module HASPCKPT a
  $POSTQ is issued to HASPCKDA to perform the track 1 I/O then
  later the $CKWAIT routine is called. CKWFLAG6 is 0 at the time
  $CKWAIT is issued.
  
  KNOWN IMPACT:
  The message is not informative as it does not show what I/O
  operation is being delayed.
  
  VERIFICATION STEPS:
  1. JES2 is in checkpoint reconfiguration
  
  2. The $HASP292 message is received and states it is waiting on
  a response to "*UNKNOWN*"
