Error description

  • In a Version 2 PDSE with Member Generations, attempting to
"SAVE NEWGEN" or STOW a new member generation already at
    MAX_GENS can result in an
    IEC911I 315-rc,jjj,sss,ddname, 00000008,0F145167 message
and a failed save of the new generation if there is an orphaned
    GD record.

Local fix

  • To clear the corruption, as evidenced by the failing IEBPDSE,
Copy the corrupted dataset into a newly allocated dataset
to remove the orphaned GD records.

    ****************************************************************
A specific delete of a PDSE generation when that generation is
in pending delete status may remove a index record in the
attribute directory. This leaves the generation entry in an
incorrect state and prevents the complete deletion of all
records related to this generation in the future.

Problem conclusion

  • The removal of the generation index record while in pending
    delete status has been corrected.
