    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    z/OS BCPii HWICMD service uses a passed in structure of a
    fixed size to specify the parameters on the command request.
    As a result, the structure is mapped to only accept 4 digits
    for the load address.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • z/OS BCPii will need to create a new service with different
    mappings for its commands that specifies a version. If the
    version is 2 or greater, then the structure for load and
    SCSI load will allow for a 5-digit specification of the load
    address.

    A subsequent release of z/OS will create a new command service
    that allows for a version based, adjustable sized structures
    to be passed into the HWICMD service.
