Error description
If the SMS LOCK SET contains an incorrect lock structure name, an OPEN will receive an IEC161I 215-0801. This is normal. If, however, the lock structure name is corrected, any subsequent OPEN will also receive the same message. NON-RLS open will also receive the same message because SMSVSAM continues to use the incorrect lock name which was stored in the VVR. IEC161I 215-0801 IEC161I 215(00000008 660C012A 00000045 7F0A7200)-0801 IDCAMS will also receive the IEC161I as well as IDC messages: IDC3300I ERROR OPENING NB.RLS.TEST1 IDC3351I ** VSAM OPEN RETURN CODE IS 191 IDC3003I FUNCTION TERMINATED. CONDITION CODE IS 12 So this APAR is to fix the SMSVSAM code to remove the lock structure name from the VVDS if the lock structure does not exist and the open fails. The documentation for CODE 191 should also be updated in both the IDC3351I documentation and the VSAM OPEN return codes in Macro Instructions for Data Sets. May also see logrec entries for an ABEND0F4 in IGWLNI01 with RC24 RSN66021231 Additional keyworks: RLS SMSVSAM MSGIDIEC161I RLSABEND0F4
Local fix
VVR needs to be reset. This can be done via delete/redefine of the data set. If the data need to be preserved, you may be able to copy and restore the data via DSS DUMP / RESTORE.
