Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: Users at HBB7780 and above that use the * * HyperSwap function with the ENABLE(PPRCSUM) * * option active in SYS1.PARMLIB(DEVSUPxx) * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When the ENABLE(PPRCSUM) option is * * active in SYS1.PARMLIB(DEVSUPxx) and a * * dynamic ACTIVATE is performed * * following a HyperSwap, MSGIOS500I * * indicating an ACTIVATE FAILURE due to * * PATHS or DEVICE PINNED by IOSVKLAR, * * is issued. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When the ENABLE(PPRCSUM) option is active in SYS1.PARMLIB(DEVSUPxx), it's possible for Summary Unit Check processing for a PPRC State Change Event occurring during a HyperSwap, to leave some devices in the PINNED state. This means that if a Dynamic ACTIVATE that affects those devices is done following a Hyperswap, the ACTIVATE may fail due to the outstanding PINs left on those devices.
Problem conclusion
IOS Summary Unit Check processing is being changed to ensure that outstanding PINs are not left on devices. KEYWORDS: HYPERSWP/K
