OA43416: SET CON=XX TO DYNAMICALLY ADD A NEW CONSOLE DOES NOT DEFINE THE NEW CONSOLE - NO ERROR MESSAGES ARE PRODUCED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The CONSOLxx parmlib member was updated to define a new MCS
  console.  The SET CON=xx command was issued, but a display of
  the consoles did not show the new console (D C,L CNZ4100I).  The
  new console was not defined.

Local fix

• Add the following statement as the LAST statement in the
  CONSOLxx parmlib member, then issue the SET CON=xx command.
  
  CONSOLE   DEVNUM(SUBSYSTEM) AUTH(ALL) NAME(SUB1)
  
  This subsystem console will NOT be defined, but the new console
  added will be.
  

Problem summary

  When processing a SET CON=xx command, an extraneous system
  console definition in the parmlib member (the system console
  can not be added dynamically via this command) causes the
  last new console in the CONSOLxx member to not be defined.
  

Problem conclusion

• Processing has been updated to successfully add definitions
  for all validly defined consoles in the CONSOLxx during a
  SET CON=xx command.
