Error description

  • PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

Alternative approach to very large scale deletes of
configuration database while retaining prototype definitions.

Export of CSG to be retained
    Restore of prototypes only
    Import of exported CSG

To allow for this change, new option added to kcfcrstr utility
and fixes to import/export errors with cluster objects were
    made.

    Fixes include the following:

1)Addition of "-p" (prottype only) option in kcfcrstr utility to
    restore only prototypes.

2)"KCF0238E Import file contains invalid attribute value x for
    tag xxxxxxx import stopped".
Fix to export function to properly put out converted enum values
for some attributes (VALCLUSREP, VALCQCONFL, VALCQRESID,
    VALCQMCONN).

    3) Fix for deadlock that occurs during import of cluster
objects between Managed System lock and System Group lock.
RegenerateClusterObjects had only managed System lock held
before call to DeleteFromConfig. Needs to hold lock for all
parents before call to delete function. KCFCM037E Message and
call stacks for waiting threads show:
    KCFCCMCN FindManagedSystem
    and
    KCFCCMCO DeleteFromConfig
    KMCCMQQM RegenerateClusterObjects,

    4) Fix so that import ignores empty placeholder objects without
    terminating import processing.
"KCF0227E Cannot create resource in database" is no longer
    returned.
Note that placeholder definitions that represent queue managers
in a cluster that no longer exist in defined database are still
displayed as <Unnamed>. These can be removed later if desired
by doing Export Extended, Delete of Cluster object or CSG,
    Import.

    - Large migration of database required this function.

    - Export put out incorrect values for some cluster attributes

    - Parent locks not held when delete called.

    - Old empty placeholder objects preventing import from
      running.

Problem conclusion

  • - "-p" option added to kcfcrstr.

    - Fix made to export to put out proper values for tags.

    - Locks for all parents acquired before delete called.

    - Import ignores empty placeholder objects without
      terminating import processing.
