OA41404: ABEND 00F WITH REASON 990252 ON ADD-LIKE DEVICES WHEN WORK IODF HAS D/R OS CONFIGURATIONS

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The Customer initiated the Add-like Device operation, using the
  existing devices, assigned to the regular and D/R operating
  system configuration and connected to at least one esoteric
  group in them.
  This operation failed with ABEND 00F ( ABEND00F ) and reason
  code 990252 ( RSN990252 ).
  It appeared that, while HCD correctly was skipping D/R OS
  configurations, it nevertheless attempted to connect a new
  Add-like device to one of the esoterics, defined in the EDT in
  one of the D/R OS configurations. Since the device was not
  assigned to the D/R OS configuration, there was no record of the
  device in there which led to the failure to locate a record for
  a new device.
  HCD should have skipped connecting Add-like devices to
  esoterics, defined in the D/R OS configurations.
  

Local fix

• Possible circumvention for the customer is to use the add action
  and redefine the connections instead of using the Add-like
  action.

Problem conclusion

• HCD skips connection of device to an esoteric, if it is for
  a generated D/R Operating System. This is done anyway at
  a later step during build production IODF.
