APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The symptom is an ABEND800 RSN09:
  
  IEF472I SPGTRTS SUPERC - COMPLETION CODE - SYSTEM=800 USER=0000
  REASON=00000009
  
  Here is what the ABEND means:
  
  "During processing of an I/O request, execute channel program
  (EXCP)
  processing encountered an error.
  
  The IOBE specified that this is a zHPF channel program request,
  but zHPF
  channel programs are only supported for EXCPVR requests."
  
  This occurs when there is a VIO dataset located in a
  concatenation and zHPF is enabled:

  The first dataset was existing and resided on DASD.  The second
  dataset was allocated to VIO:

Local fix

• The following will disable zHPF as a work around:
  
  Set SAM_USE_HPF(NO) in member IGDSMSxx
  
  Then activate this with the following:
  SET SMS=xx
  
  OR issue the following MVS command to disable zHPF until the
  next IPL:
  
  SETSMS SAM_USE_HPF(NO)

Problem conclusion

• The ABEND800 RSN09 in the above scenario has been eliminated.
