APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • New function - provide enhanced information about coupling
channel configuration for display, IPCS, and accounting and
    measurement.
    PE Information :
    -User Affected :
Customers with PTF UA66418 applied without UA59908 in HBB7770,
     and UA66419 applied without UA59909 in HBB7780.
    -User Impact :
APAR OA37550 provided the intended new function but introduced
    a new problem.

OA37550 provided performance and RAS enhancements for
    coupling facility cache structure exploiters.

ABEND026-0C0E1026 occurs with CACHE structure related access.
If ECS structure was utilized in the plex, Catalog address
space could suffer failure with its access of str and LPAR
     could NOT operate normally.

This APAR enhances display, IPCS, and accounting and measurement
output to provide additional information about coupling facility
message channels, including protocol in use, operational status,
    and physical configuration.

Comments

  • Updated the following to report additional channel path
    characteristics for directly-connected and remotely-connected
(i.e., peer-to-peer linked) coupling facilities (CFs).

o DISPLAY CF (directly- and remotely-connected CFs)

    o DISPLAY M=CHP (directly-connected CFs)

o The IXLMG accounting and measurement API (directly- and
      remotely-connected CFs)

o The IPCS XESDATA FACILITY report (directly- and remotely-
      connected CFs).

The enhanced subchannel reporting function is provided by the
    zEnterprise EC12 (zEC12) processor (D/T 2827).

o To report or display the additional channel path information
for directly-connected CFs, z/OS must be running on a zEC12
      processor.

o To report or display the additional channel path information
for remotely-connected CFs, the directly-connected CF must be
running on a zEC12 processor (CFLEVEL 18 or higher).

    |
    | usedev
    | Number of coupling facility subchannels that are currently
    | being used by this system to execute requests to the
    | coupling facility. This is equal to the number of concurrent
