OA38007: ISPF FOR Z/OS 1.13 RECEIVES 970C FROM SVC99 FOR VOLUME IN DISALLSTATUS.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• ISPF 3.4 receives RC970C from SVC99 when an SMS volume is in
  DISALL status. The volume field on panel ISRUDLP is primed with
  a pattern and request only fails on z/OS 1.13. Identical
  requests issued on systems prior to 1.13 execute without error.

  ISPF 3.4 dynamically allocates the indexed VTOC to scan for data
  sets. This creates a temporary data set on the requested volume
  until the scan completes. dfSMS APARs OA29893 and OA29753 were
  resolved in z/OS 1.13 and prevents the allocation of temporary
  data sets on a volume in DISALL status.
  

Problem conclusion

• Reason code 970C may be issued for a number of reasons.
  ISPF 3.4 is changed to retrieve the messages from SVC99.
  This includes the dfSMS message that indicates the volume is in
  DISALL status.
  MSGISRD024 will be returned and pressing PF1 will then display
  panel ISRSVCER with these messages.
