Error description

  • In a MPMU address space, a process dubbing and
undubbing will get a USP created for it each time through
DUB. The previous USP is not freed and the storage
    is lost.
In the path for a MPMU (multiproc/multiuser) address space,
BPXPRIN1 does not check the ACEEIUSP bit to see if there is
already a USP (user security package) connected to this ACEE.
This causes a storage leak in ELSQA, leading to multiple
    abend80A's and abend878's.

Problem summary

  • ****************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of Tivoli NetView for z/OS who *
    * make use of UNIX System Services, including *
    *                 System Automation/390 (SA/390).              *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A new USS dub setting is needed for *
    * NetView to allow the fix for USS APAR *
    *                      OA20171 to be effective.                *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The fix provided by USS APAR OA20171 requires that the job step
task of the address space specifies a new option, DUBUNIQUEACEE,
on the Set Dub Defaults (BPX1SDD) invocation. Doing so will
allow the problem described by OA20171 to be resolved.

Problem conclusion

  • Module DSIDUBIT is being changed to attempt to invoke the
BPX1SDD callable service with varying combinations of options,
starting with all the ones required by NetView. If the request
fails, another attempt will be made using less
recently-available options. For each attempt that fails,
msgBNH284E will be issued stating that the specific function is
not available. When an invocation of BPX1SDD works, msgCNM910I
will be issued stating which options were successful. The
options that are attempted follow, in the order they will be
    attempted:
      PROCESSDEFER+JOBPERM+NOJSTUNDUB+UNIQUEACEE
      PROCESSDEFER+JOBPERM+NOJSTUNDUB
      PROCESSDEFER
      PROCESS
Also, because messages BNH284E and CNM910I are being used in
this new way, the descriptions of these messages are being
changed. To do so, the Tivoli NetView for z/OS V5R2 Messages and
Codes Volume 1 (AAU-DSI) (SC31-6965-00) and the Tivoli NetView
    for z/OS V5R3 Messages and Codes Volume 1 (AAU-DSI)
(SC31-6965-01) should be changed as follows:
The description of message BNH284E should be changed as
     follows:
The description of the 'function' message variable should be
      changed to read as follows:
function The function that your current installation does not
                support
The Operator Response should be changed to read as follows:
Operator Response: If appropriate, verify that the command
was entered correctly, then correct and reenter the command
       request.

If the command is 'BPX1SDD', then the UNIX System Services
Set Dub Defaults request issued by the NetView program during
its initialization has failed when attempting to specify the
       options indicated by 'function'.

If support for the function should be available, contact your
system programmer and indicate that the specified function
       has not been installed.
The description of message CNM910I should be changed as
     follows:
New Operator Response and System Programmer Response sections
should be added to read as follows:
Operator Response: If 'command' begins with 'BPX1SDD', then
the UNIX System Services Set Dub Defaults request has
succeeded with the indicated options. One or more instances
of message BNH284E may have been issued. If no previous
BNH284E had been issued, all the latest UNIX System Services
       dub defaults functions are installed.

       System Programmer Response: None.
The online help for messages BNH284E and CNM910I are being
    changed as described above.
