Error description

  • Using ISPDTLC EXEC results in REXX error 40 in line 26498:
Incorrect call to routing return SUBSTR(s,beg, len, pad)
When MERGESAREA tag is used and the scrollable area is merged
into the panel body, the AREA definition is removed and replaced
with a null. When the SCRIPT option is active, the null line is
passed to the scripting process. Rexx SUBSTR fails when this
    zero length is passed.

Local fix

  • Use NOMERGESAREA or NOSCRIPT

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When MERGESAREA and SCRIPT option are *
    * active, scripting process fails on a *
    *                      null string with a Rexx error 40 .      *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
Scrollable area is merged by DTL which produces a null line.
The null line is formatted as a blank line on panel output but
on script output remains null. Null line is then passed to Rexx
    substr process which fails.

Problem conclusion

  • ISPDTLC is changed to cater for a possible null line being
processed when MERGESAREA option is used with SCRIPT option
