Abstract
LIC-DISK-OTHER -RC1310 MSGCPDB8E3 ERROR2 VARY ON SOURCE IASP
AFTER SUCCESSFUL CFGGEOMIR
Error Description
When configuring geographic mirror (CFGGEOMIR) and there are
multiple paths to the disks and more than one disk
controller is involved, attempting to vary on the source IASP
after a successful CFGGEOMIR could result in CPDB8E3 with error
2 and reason code 1310 indicating that there is an error on the
mirror copy and the disk unit is missing from the configuration.
It was discovered that an internal cleanup step was missed. A
code update will occur to ensure that cleanup is performed
correctly and the result will prevent the CPDB8E3 from
occurring in this scenario.
Work around: End the mirror node from the cluster, IPL the
mirror node, restart cluster and attempt to vary on the source
IASP again.
Problem Summary
Please see the ERROR DESCRIPTION section.
Problem Conclusion
At one point, several devices were in a format corrupt state and
we had our xMediaError flag turned on. After the disks were
initialized, the xMediaError flag was turned off on the primary
path, but not on the secondary path, thus preventing the iASP
from varying on. A change will be made to ensure the
xMediaError flag is reset on all paths after a disk is
successfully formatted.
