Abstract
OSP-DB-OTHER-F/DBOPAFFINITY-T/QQQOOODBOP-RC1720-MSGMCH3203
RUNNING A SELECT WITH GROUPINGSETS AND ALWCPYDTA YES
Error Description
A CTE with aggregation, join and union and grouping sets fails
with
msgMCH3203 x/1720 f/dbopaffinity
t/qqqooodbop-qqqoooinv-calldbmaintforopenoroptimize
if executed with ALWCPYDTA set to *YES
Problem Summary
A CTE with aggregation, join and union and grouping sets fails
with
msgMCH3203 x/1720 f/dbopaffinity
t/qqqooodbop-qqqoooinv-calldbmaintforopenoroptimize
if executed with ALWCPYDTA set to *YES
Problem Conclusion
A optimization strategy used for this particular customer query,
the Grouping Set strategy, was not making a proper copy of an
internal optimization object before using it to cost various
grouping set plans. For the most part the lack of a separate,
modifiable copy of this object would have self corrected in a
subsequent strategy and it would not have been discovered as a
problem but because this query was run as ALWCPYDTA *YES, the
optimizer used this internal object (not a modifiable copy)
before it had a chance to 'self correct'. This problem has
been corrected.
