Abstract
IPL-WAIT FIRST IPL LONG WAIT AFTER SWITCHING DISK BETWEEN
SERVERS
Error Description
Client switches his disks to another server (either through
full system replication or full system flashcopy) and IPL's from
this secondary server. The first IPL on the new secondary server
will hang while a second IPL will work immediately.
A common symptom seen is that from the HMC, the secondary system
will show as active, SRC0000000. However, attempting to gain a
console session does not work. After some time passes
(approximately 20 minutes or more), the connection to the
console begins to work.
Problem Summary
Client switches his SYSBAS disks to another server and IPL's
from this server. The first IPL
on the new server will wait for 20 minutes while a second IPL
will work immediately.
Problem Conclusion
Changes to Licensed Internal Code to check for the optical
device to limit the number of times the check has to be done in
the Activation Engine.
