Error description
Customer is sending email with PDF attachment to external customers using an open source webmail Roundcube. The attachment is sent by Notes and tagged as Content-Type: application/octet-stream and is received externally in Roundcube as Content-Type: application/octet-stream. The external Roundcube recipient is unable to open the pdf attachment.
Local fix
Collaborating with our Mail Routing team, we were able to find a solution using the following server and client settings we are to get to send the PDF attachment as "Content-type: application/pdf" and received in Gmail as the same. 1. On the server configuration: Go to Outbound Conversion Options/Message Content/from Notes to Plain Text and HTML 2. On Notes client Preferences Preferences/Mail/Internet Internet mail Format: HTML and Plain Text Multilingual Internet mail format: Use Unicode and prompt 3. On the Notes client's default Location Location document /Mail/Format for messages addressed to internet addresses: Notes Rich Text Format However customer is not receptive to implement the change using Use Unicode and prompt or Notes Rich Text Format will enable to return previous issues with calendar entries and formatting of their email Forums in Roundcube view it is a message parsing issue with Roundcube Customer thinks it is a Domino/Notes issue as outbound PDF attachments are not being identified as PDF though the file identifications are enabled for outbound for PDF's.
