Error description

  • Tables are reformatted to a single list in the chair's Domino
    Calendar after syncing with a BlackBerry 10 ( OS 10.1 ) device.

    Steps to recreate:
    1. Chair with BlackBerry 10 device creates a single instance
meeting with at least one invitee. The meeting / event includes
a table in the description of the meeting.
    2. Chair saves and sends the meeting invite.
    3. The invite is accepted by one or more invitees. The invitee
can accept using a BlackBerry device or by using the Notes
       Notes Desktop Client or iNotes.
    4. Chair views meeting on the Domino server using iNotes or the
Notes Desktop Client and the table is still formatted
correctly. NOTE: The table will appear on BlackBerry
devices a single list, one cell per line. This is expected
since the device does not use HTML for security reasons and
the body of the meeting / event is converted to plain text.
    5. Chair creates a second meeting / event identicle to the first
meeting / event except the date and time is different.
    6. Chair saves and sends invitations.
    7. Chair looks at the first meeting / event using iNotes or
Notes Desktop Client and notices the table in the first
meeting / event was converted to a single column list just
like the contents seen when viewing the meeting from the
       BlackBerry device.

This issue only appears to happen on OS 10.1 and could not be
reproduced on devices such as the BlackBerry z30 running 10.2.

After further investigation, it was determined the device is
sending an update to the first meeting when the second meeting
is being sync'd to the device. This update includes the
description but the device has removed some blank lines.
Traveler sees the update from the device and since the
description (body) from the device does not match the
plain text description version created from the original
meeting / event on the Domino server, updates the original
meeting / event description with the one from the device.

As a workaround for BlackBerry OS 10.1, we are implementing
a change in the Traveler comparison code to ignore white space
differences including addition and/or removal of blank lines.

Local fix

  • N/A

Problem summary

  • BlackBerry 10.1 device sometimes sends up an update with
whitespace differences from original calendar entry. This would
cause an update of the content body.

Problem conclusion

  • The Notes Traveler server was updated to filter out updates that
only contain whitespace changes from a BB device.

Temporary fix
