LO76944: TRAVELER ISSUE WITH MULTIPLE IPS ON THE SAME MACHINE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• On machines with multiple network interfaces, the user can
  specify NTS_HOST_IP_ADDR=<ipAddr> in notes.ini to tell
  Notes Traveler which address to use.  During start-up, Traveler
  will validate that the IP address matches one of the valid IP
  addresses for one of the network interfaces.  In some cases, the
  Java APIs are reporting that a valid address is not reachable.
  The code in this APAR will allow Traveler to start as long as
  the IP is a valid IP for one of the interfaces even if the Java
  API reports that it is not reachable.

Problem summary

• Notes Traveler server validates the IP address being used by the
  server.  The IP address is required to be accurate for a Highly
  Available (HA) setup.  In some cases, during startup the Java
  API is reporting that the IP address is unreachable.  This seems
  to be a bug in the Java API as the customer indicated the IP is
  valid and functioning.
  

Problem conclusion

• The Notes Traveler server was updated to handle this case as a
  warning and allow the server startup process to continue.  This
  is a work around for a potential JVM bug or even bug in the
  Operating System.
  

Temporary fix

• This fix is included in Notes Traveler 9.0.0.1 IF2 and will be
  included in all future releases.  For latest Notes
