LO76603: WORKAROUND FOR BLACKBERRY HAVING TWO COPIES OF MAILS IN SENT

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Starting with Exchange ActiveSync 14.1, BB changed the Sent
  logic to keep a copy of all mails sent from the device instead
  of just deleting it and relying (as per the EAS spec) on the
  server to Add a copy of the Sent mail in the Sent folder once it
   was synced.
  When the Sent folder was synced and the mail was synced from the
  server to the BB device, the device tried to match up the copy
  it saved with the new message from the server.
  Traveler 9.0.0.1 upgraded the EAS spec support to utilize EAS
  14.1 which enabled Traveler to improve many aspects of the sync.
  However, the BB is unable to correlate the two mails (the copy
  and the one from the server), so both are left in the Sent view
  on the device (but only one mail was really sent to the
  recipients).  This issue was already fixed in a BB 10.1
  maintenance release, but not all carriers around the world have
  rolled it out to their devices yet.  Until that fix is available
  everywhere, this is a server workaround to modify the Message-ID
  MIME header so that the BB can correlate the two mails, delete
  its local copy, and just have the one (correct) copy from the
  server.

Problem summary

• BB10 devices are saving a copy of all sent mails on its own,
  then when Notes Traveler syncs the sent folder you end up with
  two copies of every sent item on the device.  BlackBerry is
  aware of the issue and eventually will have a fix deployed.
  

Problem conclusion

• In the meantime, the Notes Traveler server has been updated to
  identify and work around this issue.  This should function
  properly in both scenarios.
  

Temporary fix

• This issue is fixed in Notes Traveler 9.0.0.1 IF1 and later
  releases.  See this technote for the latest available
