LO75985: NOTES 9.0 MULTI USER INSTALL CANNOT IMPORT AN ICS FILE FROM A NO TES DOCUMENT

APAR status

Error description

  • A Notes 9.0 user cannot open an ics file received in a Notes
    document
    (typically an iCalendar document)
    The Notes user has Notes installed via multi user install .
    
    Steps to reproduce:
    1.
    Install Notes 8.5.3 multi user on Win 7 64 bit
    
    2.
    Run client setup. The directory '...\Appdata\local\Lotus\Notes'
    is created.
    
    3.
    Upgrade the installation to Notes 9.0
    Also tried a new installation after removing Notes 8.5.3. The
    result is the
    same.
    
    4.
    Start Notes 9.0  .  No configuration dialog causes the client
    seems to use all
    files from '...\Appdata\local\Lotus\Notes'
    A folder '...\Appdata\local\IBM' would be also created but
    contains only a
    'Workspace' folder
    
    5.
    Open a Notes document containing an *.ics file from Notes 9.0
    .
    An additional splash screen opens and closes after a short time.
    Nothing
    happens.
    
    NOTE: The ics file can be opened and imported if double clicked
    from the O/S .
    

Local fix

  • Delete '...\Appdata\local\IBM' and '...\Appdata\local\Lotus\'
    folder and run
    client setup again .
    
    or
    Delete '...\Appdata\local\IBM' folder and rename
    '...\Appdata\local\Lotus\' to
    '...\Appdata\local\IBM'
    
    or
    Change the path to Workspace folder to the old one in
    'rcplauncher.properties'
    file
    
    However , this is not possible for Organizations that have a
    large number of
    Notes users.
