LO74056: ANDROID DEVICE BOOT IN 1980 CAUSES MISSING CALENDAR ENTRIES

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• If the battery dies or is pulled out of the HTC Desire S phone,
  the next time it boots up, its date will be initialized to Jan
  6, 1980.
  
  It takes this particular device several minutes before pulling
  the correct date from the carrier.
  
  During this time frame, Traveler detects the time change and
  attempts to shift the calendar filter window (based on user's
  filter settings).  There is, however, a bug in the filter
  detection logic, in this unique case.
  

Local fix

• The work around is to try to keep the battery charged, such that
  the device doesn't boot up in 1980.
  
  An alternate work around is to set both the past and future
  filter settings to "Show All."
  

Problem summary

• Problem was only seen with some Android devices.  A full power
  outage on the device would reset to internal clock to 1980 for a
  while causing calendar entries to be incorrect.
  

Problem conclusion

• The Notes Traveler client for Android devices has been updated
  to work around this sudden radical date change.
  

Temporary fix

• This fix is available in Notes Traveler 8.5.3 Upgrade Pack 2
  Interim Fix 2 and will be included in all future releases.
