LO74052: CONTACT LOOKUP DOES NOT WORK ON GALAXY III

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When the Galaxy III phone is in landscape mode, the user
  composes a new mail and begins typing a mail address into the To
   field.
  Contact lookup returns some matches. When the user chooses one,
  either it does not appear in the to field or the wrong one
  appears.
  
  I debugged this and found that the device OS appears to have a
  bug in that it does not account for the disabled progress item
  at the top of the contact results. It thus, uses the item above
  what the user actually selects. This problem is only seen on
  this device.
  
  I found a work-around to the problem is to enable the progress
  item. This has no visible effect since the item is no displayed
  in landscape mode, but allows the selection to work correctly.

• Select the item below the one you really want.
  

Problem summary

• Bug in the Android OS on Gallazy 3 devices could prevent look up
  from working correctly when composing mail.
  

Problem conclusion

• The Notes Traveler client for Android was updated to work around
  this issue.
  

Temporary fix

• This fix is available in Notes Traveler 8.5.3 Upgrade Pack 2
  Interim Fix 2 and will be included in all future releases.
