LO66187: UNABLE TO DELETE OLD USER NAME AFTER RENAME USER.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Customer reported that after a rename user there would be two
  entries in Lotus Traveler for the user.  The old one and the new
  one.  Running the delete on the old one would not delete the old
  user but instead delete the new user from the Lotus Traveler
  database.
  
  This problem is seen because Domino will retain the old username
  for a period of time.  When performing a lookup using the old
  name, the new name is returned.  Special logic is needed to
  handle this.
  

Local fix

• Once the Domino server "forgets" the old name, the delete should
  work, but this could take 30 days or more.
  

Problem summary

• After rename of a user, Lotus Traveler had two entries for the
  user under both the old an new name.  The user synced fine, but
  the Admin was unable to remove the old entry from Lotus
  Traveler.
  

Problem conclusion

• The lookup for the old name would return the new name from the
  Domino server so the delete command would execute against the
  new name.  The Lotus Traveler server was updated to attempt the
  delete against the name entered prior to the lookup operation.
  

Temporary fix

• This fix will be included in Lotus Traveler 8.5.3.2 and later
  releases.  See this technote for the latest Lotus Traveler
